Getting DEEP into research

Within the NATO Defence Education Enhancement Program (DEEP), the research fellow of ISDS, Tamas Csiki Varga shared his experience and lessons learnt on Hungarian research and development institutions, research and education activities in the defense sphere, as well as the functioning and activities of ISDS with representatives of Marshall Fahim National Defense University (Kabul, Afghanistan) between May 24 and 27, 2021. As part of the cooperative activities of NATO and Afghanistan, the program contributes to the development of the institutions of military higher education in the Central Asian country through sharing the experience of NATO member states in areas of shared interest. The aim of the four-day online workshop, where Romanian and Croatian researchers and analysts participated alongside Mr. Csiki Varga, was to provide Central European working models and offer methods regarding the institutional environment, external relations, internal rules of operation and examples of professional activities for a new to-be-established research institution at Marshall Fahim National Defense University.
